Forms, Breaking & Sparring Tournament and Black Belt Promotion – May 1-2, 2026
Location: The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin, IL 60120
When: Friday, May 1st, 2026 (Promotion) and Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 (Tournament)
Black Belt Promotion, Friday, May 2nd
- Doors Open 5:00 pm
- 1st Dan Candidates 5:30-6:45 pm
- 2nd Dan+ Candidates 7:00-8:30 pm
- Each Promotional Candidate receives 1 complimentary Promotion Spectator Pass
- Additional Promotion Spectator Pass: $10 online or at the door
- Children 5 and under: FREE
Tournament, Saturday, May 3rd
- Doors Open: 7:30 am
- Black Belt Competition: 8:30 am
- Colored Belt Competition: TBD
Tournament Registration Fee :
- 1 or 2 Divisions: $75 ($100 after Sunday, April 19)
- All 3 Divisions: $100 ($125 after Sunday, April 19)
- Each Registration includes 1 complimentary Tournament Spectator Pass
- Additional Tournament Spectator Pass: $10 online or $15 at the door
- Children 5 and under: FREE
*Both Events Require a Spectator Pass
*Each Graduate receives 1 complimentary Spectator Pass for the Promotion
*Each Registration includes 1 complimentary Spectator Pass for the Tournament
*Purchase a combined spectator ticket (for tournament and promotion) online for only $18!

Standard Board Sizes By Belts and Age:
Color Belts: White Belts – Black Stripes
Maximum 4 boards per break; Maximum of 2 Breaking Stations
- 5-9 years: 0.5″t x 12″h x 6″w
- 10 – 12 years: 1”t x 12”h x 6″w
- 13-17 years: 1”t x 12”h x 8”w
- 18+ years: 1”t x 12”h x 10”w
Black Belts:
Maximum 6 boards per break; Maximum of 4 Breaking Stations
- 9 – 12 years: 1”t x 12”h x 6″w
- 13-17 years: 1”t x 12”h x 8”w
- 18+ years: 1”t x 12”h x 10”w
Cost: $4.00 each – Tax included on boards purchased online. $4.50+tax if purchased at the door.
All tournament Breaking Boards must be purchased from the AKF (for pick-up at the Pro-Shop the day of the event) to maintain product consistency.
